Adult Summer Reading 2024

This year's Summer Reading Challenge theme is Read, Renew, Repeat! The Somerville Public Library is encouraging our community to connect with nature and our collections. While previous adult summer reading challenges at the SPL have been bingo cards, this year, we're offering a raffle. With challenges like "Read outside," and "Read a book about a particular animal," you can live out this year's theme through the library. Additionally, you can check out our curated book displays at the Central library, or our booklists online for some inspiration!

The challenge runs from Monday, June 17th until Friday, August 16th.

How Do I Get Started?

  • Pick up your "Summer Reading Passport" from any SPL location, or print one here!
  • Complete any of the 8 challenges you like, in whatever order you like!
    • To complete a challenge, read or watch a title in one of the eight categories
    • Fill out your corresponding "Summer Reading Passport" square with the title and author
    • Come in person to any SPL location, call the Central Library Reference Desk, or fill out our Google Form to let us know that you’ve completed a challenge
    • Fill out a raffle ticket if in person
    • If not in person, library staff will fill out a ticket
  • You earn one raffle ticket for each challenge completed, and every time you enter, you are eligible to win a mini raffle prize.
  • We will draw for mini-raffle wins at the end of each week. To enter, just complete a challenge!
    • You will either win complimentary tickets to the Somerville Theatre, or Paddle Boston tickets
  • At the completion of Summer Reading 2024, we will draw from all raffle ticket entries to select the winner of the grand prize!
