ELL / Citizenship

ESL students and volunteers

The library offers a dedicated English Language Learning collection at each of our libraries. In addition to our collections, drop-in style ELL classes are offered at each of our libraries (Central Library, East Branch, and West Branch), led by ELL volunteers.

(Please note: Due to COVID-19, all ELL classes are virtual.)

In partnership with St. Mark Community Education Program, the library also offers citizenship tutoring for eligible individuals (5 years as a lawful permanent resident or 3 years, if married to a US citizen). A basic level of English is also required.

A Citizenship Corner can also be found at Central Library with up-to-date study materials for independent use. Through the Pathways to Citizenship grant, the Citizenship Corner at Central Library will be enhanced and Citizenship Corners at East Branch and West Branch will be established.
