Book-A-Librarian

We welcome your questions, and we are dedicated to providing a high level of service to our patrons. If you have an in-depth question that you need help answering, the Library is here.

Fill out our online form to ask a question or call the Reference Desk at (617) 623-5000 x2955, and a librarian will respond to your question by email or phone within 2-3 business days. When the librarian contacts you, they will set up a time to meet one-on-one to help answer your question. Appointments are 30 minutes, so please prepare accordingly.

Book-A-Librarian appointments are not intended for ongoing intensive instruction. There is no guarantee for a second appointment, but if you need follow-up supports, we can offer one more 30-minute session. If you are looking for Adult Education classes, you can look into Somerville Center for Adult Learning Experiences (SCALE). They offer ELL classes, Adult Basic Education (ABE), adult college preparedness resources, and more.

The Book-A-Librarian possibilities are below. Please note that this list does not cover the full range of questions:

  • Resume formatting
  • Job interview preparation
  • Research help (how to use our databases, how to conduct research online, etc.)
  • Local History and Genealogy questions

If you are interested in booking an appointment with a librarian, please fill out the form and explain your inquiry with as much detail as possible. Our team of skilled librarians is here to help!
