West Branch News, September 2020

Alison and the Song Cube

Hello from the West Branch! We miss you, and can’t wait to see you soon -- either for contactless pickup, Storytime, Kids Book Club, or just by chance in the grocery store or at CVS (yes, West Branch librarians run into library patrons all over the place!).

We feel strongly that libraries are a vital part of our community, and it’s been, well, different to be a librarian without that face-to-face interaction over the last six months.  However, we’re doing our very best to offer you as much community as we can, without actually being in the building together.

As you know, the West Branch is still being renovated, and we’re in a temporary location at the Tufts Administration Building (TAB), 167 Holland St.  From this space, we’re offering the following services:

  • Book requests and pickups - place your holds via the Minuteman Library Network website or app, and when they arrive, schedule a pickup appointment through our online scheduling tool.
  • Grab bags of children’s books - let Alison know what your kid likes (or dislikes), and come pick up a curated bag of books for your family!  (This service is available for adults, too!)
  • Kids Book Club - our next meeting is Monday, September 21 at 5pm on Zoom.  We’re reading Dragons in a Bag by Zetta Elliott -- email Alison for the Zoom link.
  • Storytime - we’ve moved West Branch Storytime to Zoom, and it’s super fun (and as interactive as we can get online)! Email Alison for the Zoom link; we hope to see you Tuesdays at 11am.

New books are arriving at West each week, and we can’t wait to connect you with your next great read (or listen, or watch -- we have DVDs and audiobooks, too!).

Alison, Carlos, Patricia, & Alan
