The Gallery @ SPL opened in 2018 to give local artists an opportunity to share their work and make art accessible to all residents of the city. It celebrates the work of Somerville’s vibrant and diverse artistic community.
The Gallery features month-long exhibits held at the Central Library, located at 79 Highland Avenue. Selected artists host an opening reception for their exhibition each month, giving community members the opportunity to meet that artist. The Somerville Public Library welcomes all artists to submit exhibits during an open call. Somerville residents or organizations serving the Somerville community are especially encouraged to apply. Works in all media are considered, including photography and three-dimensional art that can be hung, with the exception of sculptures.
