Death on the Nile

Tonight at 7:00 p.m. the Mystery Book Group will meet at the Central Library to discuss a masterpiece of the genre: Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie.

Featuring Hercule Poirot, the dandified Belgian detective with the formidable "little grey cells," Death on the Nile begins with a classic love triangle. Passionate Jacqueline de Bellefort is dumped by her boyfriend Simon Doyle, who proceeds to marry her best friend, wealthy Linnet Ridgeway. Rather than licking her wounds in private, Jacqueline follows the couple on their honeymoon to Egypt and turns up wherever they go, which naturally causes them a great deal of embarrassment and discomfort. The situation comes to a head on a cruise down the Nile...tempers flare...this is the kind of thing that never ends well, does it? Naturally someone ends up dead, and naturally it's left to Poirot to figure out whodunnit. If you're not already familiar with this story, you're going to be surprised when the killer is revealed!

The group's next meeting will be on August 3rd at 7:00 p.m. to discuss Lawrence Block's The Burglar on the Prowl.

Meetings are free and new members are welcome! Why not join us?
