Proctoring of exams at the Somerville Public Library is available for Somerville residents only.
You or someone in your institution has requested that our library staff proctor an examination for one of your students.
We are happy to assist our patrons whenever possible, and will be glad to accommodate this request when staff is available.
Library staff who can proctor exams are most likely to be Reference Librarians on public service duty. Students will be asked to sit at a table within view of the Reference Desk. We cannot provide direct supervision by a staff member solely devoted to proctoring an exam.
It would be helpful to our staff to receive clear and straightforward instructions from you at least one week in advance of the test date, addressed to Rhoda Augarten, Head of Reference. We will work with the student to see if we can schedule the test at the least busy time for public service.
Students are expected to bring any supplies required to complete the exam such as pens, pencils, and paper. If applicable, fees may be charged for copying and/or postage. It will be up to you to decide whether the student or institution should pay these fees.
If your organization would like to show appreciation for the Library’s providing space and staff time to support the activities of you institution, please feel free to make a donation to the friends of the Somerville Public Library.
