Welcome to the Somerville Public Library
The Somerville Public Library has three locations The Main Library is located at 79 Highland Avenue, while the West Branch is at 40 College Avenue (Davis Square) and the East Branch is at 115 Broadway. In addition to its extensive collection of books, periodicals, videos, and compact discs, the SPL provides free use of Internet terminals and word processors, as well as Museum Passes for Somerville residents. Patrons of any of the thirty-five Minuteman Library Network libraries are welcome at the Somerville Public Library.
Friends of the Library Book Sale
Held twice a year, this event is one of the best sources of support for the library. Friends who join at the $50.00 or higher rate are welcome to attend the Book Sale Preview. (For more information, call the library). The Spring Book Sale will be held May 9-11 as follows:

Friday, May 9th, 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
- preview sale for $50.00 memberships and up
Saturday, May 10th, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Sunday, May 11th, 1:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m

Book Group Books List
For a quick list of current and upcoming books being read by SPL's various book groups, see the instructions in the new Book Groups display on this page (at right) to go to our Calendar and get a page of all books with book cover images, reading group times and locations, and links to the Minuteman catalog to locate copies of the books and read book reviews. (Click on cover images to connect to catalog and book reviews.) Current books being read for Central Library groups are usually available also at the Central Library Reference desk.
Library looking for ESL teachers
The Central Library is seeking volunteers to teach English classes beginning in early May. We are looking for people who are fluent in English, good listeners, flexible, reliable, and welcoming. Beginning on May 14th there will be Wednesday afternoon classes at 2:00pm (beginning) and 3:15pm (intermediate). Students can come for one or both. Pick up an application at the Reference Desk.
